Welcome to 70% Complete

Great news: we’re back, baby! After a protracted hiatus filled with Life, the 70% Complete (née Gordon Hamburger) crew is back on the airwaves. We may be back in the saddle, but we’re changing things up a bit. Read on to see what’s new or listen to the latest episode of the 70% Complete Podcast to see what’s up.

The tangent is the topic

We’re just two busy dudes with busy lives who have a lot of ideas we’ll only ever 70% complete. Instead of beating ourselves up about it, we’re leaning in and making it our whole deal. We don’t have a ton of time to do all the stuff we want, so instead, we’ve decided to focus, every other week, on what we want to. Sometimes that’s deep lore about Battletech, sometimes that’ll be a watchalong of TNG, and sometimes that’ll be reading Descartes and talking about it.

That may seem like a lack of focus to you, but it’s not. Over almost a year of Codex, we realized that all of these disparate things tend to be connected in one way or another: there are at least two previous Codex episodes dealing with Jungian archetypes, I‘m writing a video about Thomas More’s Utopia and Bioshock, and Logan’s deep-dives into Old School RuneScape tend to veer into economics and social dynamics. We believe that these detours are just ways to enjoy the things we already love, more. So that might be reading philosophy that can act as a lens through which we see Star Fleet, or it can be building replica furniture from Prey (2017).

Curiosity, not a content plan

We’re trying to do something different with 70% Complete. We’re not beholden to the news or the biggest games. Instead, we’re driven by our enthusiasm in hopes that the tangents our shows, articles, videos, and lives go down can be as fun and interesting for you as they are for us.

There’s so little we can fully control in our daily lives right now and probably fewer avenues for true positive exploration, so that’s what 70% Complete is: something we wholly own and will allow us to take whatever dalliances we crave. 70% Complete is a project guided by curiosity, not a content plan.
